We decided that since we needed some physical evidence of what people thought of the innocent civilian conflicts, an interview with Vania's parents would answer most of our questions. Vania's parents have been affected by a war in Iran around eight years ago. Hence, the reason why we thought that her parents would have a good load of information about their thoughts and perspectives on our topic.
.) What do you think about innocent casualties in war? "It isn’t fair for innocent people to get affected by war and we feel upset that we couldn't get involved with this. We feel that we should all step in to solve this problem. We also believe that war in a way shape or form is a horrible idea and that there shouldn’t be war at all in the first place. Not only do the casualties in war get affected, but there will also be an economical problem in the government that will take a long time to recover. (Settle back to the original state before war occurred.)"
.) Do you think that there should be more awareness of this topic? "We are all humans and everyone of us should be treated equally. Everyone of us should be able to help one another in times of danger or in war. Everyone should know about this important topic and we should definitely raise awareness about it."
.) Do you think this is an important part of the curriculum? If so why? "It is in fact an important part of the curriculum and everyone should learn about it. However, it should be limited to an amount that doesn’t cause anyone to be hurt or upset by this topic. If we raise awareness and teach young children about war when they grow up, they can all try to prevent war from happening in the future."
.) Are there themes you emphasize more than others when your teach this class? "War in general should be emphasized and thought well to everyone in each class."
.) Do you know of any organizations that work on solving the problem of innocent casualties? "We don't know much but we do know about UNICEF and how it raises money for children at war."
.) In your opinion, how can the amount of innocent casualties in war be reduced? "Casualties in war can be decreased by creating peace in every country. The governments should control the country in a way to cause peace within the country itself. The leaders in each country must talk with each other instead of fighting in war to solve their problems."
